December 3rd Friday Meeting

3rd Friday Meeting No Comments »

MCF’s last 3rd Friday meeting was on November 18, 2005. This was a great time of reunion for many of us as we had not been able to gather together for this purpose in a while. There was a great turn-out with even more youth representation from our various local Malayalee churches, as well as our friends outside of the Indian race. It’s in such gatherings that we again are able to remember and embrace our mission as a group as we are refueled and renewed to continue to serve God and move forward for His kingdom.

Dr. Reni Abraham shared a genuine and convicting message from the Word that evening. He shared his experiences from his medical missions trip to Haiti this year and about seeing God’s purpose and glory be manifested. This trip and the results of seeing the healed vs. the sick, and the delivered vs. the captive, helped him begin to understand more of God’s heart, His ways, and His strong call to His children. It also helped him realize how much sin in its smallest form can hinder not only our personal growth in our walks with Christ, but also the harvest of souls for Jesus that is produced in the world. He also explained how sin altogether separates. It separates us from God and from others– especially from the body of Christ. The one way the world is to know we are Christians is by our love and by our unity, and yet our permittance of sin into our personal lives separates us from one another and from God.

A profound illustration he used to convey this separation was Jesus’ last moments on the cross. Jesus cried out, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?”—which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46). What he noted was that this was the ONE TIME the Father actually left or forsook the Son. But, how could this be? It had to be because Jesus was representing SIN on the cross. And sin = separation. How much more grateful are we to be to our Lord Jesus for choosing to take on sin as he did for us, knowing that in that moment He’d also be “away” from the Father?

Hopefully, this summary of the message has given it proper justice and has not added or taken away from it. Overall, it can be said that many hearts were truly convicted of personal sins. Agreater understanding of this sin’s potential power to destroy the body of Christ as a whole and to affect lost souls coming to Jesus also really just pressed all of our hearts. We’re so thankful to have been able to hear what’s been on God’s heart at this meeting.

Thank you, Reni, for sharing and for being obedient to the Holy Spirit.

As mentioned, the meeting itself was just a great time of worship, examination, and fellowship. Can’t wait for more!
